New pictures show the extent of a blaze at a recycling centre in Preston on Sunday (May 17).

Thick black smoke billowed into the skies over Red Scar Industrial Estate after a fire broke out at Global Ardour Recycling in Longridge Road, Ribbleton at around 5.40am.
The fire involved waste materials at the recycling centre, which processes scrap metal, said a spokesperson for the company.

Three fire engines and the aerial ladder platform were deployed to the scene and crews used a hose reel jet and the water tower to extinguish the blaze.
Global Ardour Recycling was established in January 2024 following the acquisition of the scrap car and metal assets of Recycling Lives, which had entered into administration.

A spokesperson for Global Ardour Recycling said: "There is a fire at our Preston recycling centre, which processes scrap metal.
"We are currently working closely with the fire brigade and are grateful for their services."
