The court heard how Jean Maria Calamela (35) shouted abuse towards a house and swore at police rather than taking the opportunity she was given to go home or move on.

Calamela had been spotted outside the property by officers. Prosecutor Mrs Alex Mann continued: “It looks like she was outside an ex-partner’s house, but how ex he was I think is part of the problem.”

The hearing was told the defendant was in fancy dress and wearing a skeleton outfit when she was detained at 9pm. Mrs Mann added: “This incident seems to be a little bit out of character.”

The defendant, of Burnley, admitted being drunk and disorderly in Hall Park Avenue, last October 31st. She had originally been referred for a conditional caution to attend the Women’s Centre on a few occasions, but had not complied. Calamela was fined £40, with £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Bench chairman Mr Neil Tranmer told her: “It was an expensive evening.”

The defendant, who was not represented by a solicitor at the latest heating, told the justices she was embarrassed about her behaviour. She added: “I have never been in trouble before. It is just one of those things under the influence of drink. It won’t happen again and I do apologise.”
