Double delight for Preston against Coventry

Preston North End’s victory against Coventry last week meant they did a league double over three clubs this season.

And in their last two games of the campaign, they’ll be out to avoid defeat to avoid having more doubles done on them.

North End’s 1-0 win over Coventry at St Andrew’s followed a 2-0 victory against the Sky Blues in December.

The other teams they have beaten twice in the Championship this season are Derby County and Huddersfield.

They beat Derby 3-0 at home a week last Tuesday at Deepdale and 1-0 away on Boxing Day.

Huddersfield they beat 2-1 at the John Smith’s Stadium in October and 3-0 at home in February.

Five clubs have done the double on PNE – Cardiff, Rotherham, Watford, Millwall and Luton.

Barnsley and Nottingham Forest have the potential to add their names to that list before the curtain comes down on the season.

The Tykes beat North End 2-1 at Oakwell before Christmas, with Forest winning 1-0 at Deepdale on January 2.

With regards other results this season, PNE took four points off Queens Park Rangers, Bournemouth and Reading.

The boot was on the other foot with Wycombe and Stoke taking four points from Preston.

Norwich are the only side who North End drew twice with in their league meetings, 2-2 at Carrow Road and 1-1 at home.

It was a win and a defeat against Swansea, Brentford, Birmingham, Sheffield Wednesday, Blackburn, Middlesbrough and Bristol City.
