If you love working with babies, this new opportunity could be for you.

Bosses at the Royal Preston Hospital are looking for compassionate people to volunter as Baby Cuddlers.

A spokesman said: “Join us as a Volunteer Baby Cuddler in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, where you'll provide crucial one-on-one support to infants and their families in the hospital.

“Research shows that human contact is vital for a baby's early development, especially for those with serious health issues. In this role, you'll help lower stress levels by cradling and comforting babies when the parents can't be there or when they need a little break.”

What does it entale?

Key Responsibilities include cradling, rocking, and soothing babies, supporting parents and caregivers, offering a friendly chat, assisting with light housekeeping tasks on the ward and running errands for staff or parents as needed.

Those interested must be 18 or over. Successful applicants will be required to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) Check. This check will be undertaken free of charge. 

The closing date for applications is September 16.

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals have 400 volunteers working to support the services they deliver to patients.  A spokesman said: “Volunteering with us gives you the knowledge and sense of pride that every activity you do genuinely does make a difference to support our patients and staff, ensuring we keep thriving and delivering outstanding healthcare right across our local towns.
