Woman charged with murder after 75-year-old man fatally stabbed in Longton

Police rushed to reports of a serious assault at an address in Cedar Grove at around 3.50am on March 6.
Raymond Conlan, 75, was found inside the property with serious injuries to his head and body by emergency services.

Hide AdHe was treated by paramedics but was pronounced dead at the scene. A Home Office post-mortem examination revealed he died as a result of stab wounds.
A woman who was arrested on suspicion of murder and later detained under the Mental Health Act has now been charged with murder, officers have confirmed.
A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "Elizabeth Birtwistle, 32, of no fixed address, has now been charged with murder and appeared at Preston Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Thursday, October 22)."
Birtwistle is due to make a further appearance at Preston Crown Court today (Friday, October 23).
