WINTER HILL FIRE: Man arrested on suspicion of arson
A police spokesman said that the origin and cause of the fire remain unknown but that a 22-year-old man from Bolton has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.
Lancashire Constabulary and Lancashire Fire and Rescue are carrying out a joint investigation into the cause of the fire.

Hide AdThis morning around 80 firefighters are continuing to battle the devastating wild moorland fire.
The fire broke out at around 3pm on Thursday, and is the second fire this week to have affected the Rivington area.
Six relief crews from Lancashire together with three crews from other Cumbria kept a watching brief overnight.
As fire fighters continue to battle the moorland fires, well-wishers from across the county have praised Lancashire's firefighting heroes.

Hide AdCéire Edge said simply: "These firefighters are doing an amazing job," with Linda Helman adding, "firefighters and all others helping. Stay safe people. Please keep these people well fed and hydrated."
Kathleen Brennan added: "So sad, the fire fighters are amazing."
The fire service has now thanked the public for donations that have come their way.
