Friends of the late Adrian Watson were saddened to find their memorial for the 18-year-old targeted by vandals last week. According to reports, the Winckley Square memorial - beneath a willow tree where Adrian would often sit and spend her time - has been subject to repeated attacks.
Flowers, candles and mementos were found damaged and scattered around the tree in the city park, where friends came to pay their respects to the teenager, who died after accidentally overdosing on drugs in June 2024.

Adrian, born Shanice, had been on a night out in Preston and had walked home to Fishergate Hill where they were living in supported accommodation. The following evening, staff entered the room where they found Adrian unresponsive.

An inquest later concluded that Adrian died from a suspected drugs overdose. MDMA - ecstasy - was found in Adrian's system and they had also taken a potentially fatal amount of prescribed medication propranolol, although there was no suggestion that the overdose was intentional.
More than 200 people attended a memorial for Adrian in Winckley Square, where friends listened to their favourite song, Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd.
