The victim of the crime, who does not want to be named, said: "The first I knew about it was the following morning when I saw that my glove box was open. My belongings had been scattered around the passenger seat.

"Thankfully, I didn't leave anything of value in the car so nothing was stolen

"It's really annoying that somebody has been in my car. I've heard other people in the area have been suffered similar crimes and if my footage and pictures can help that would be great.

A spokesman for the police said: "We had a report of a car being interfered with in the Shrugg's Wood area.

"There seems to be a real problem of opportunists trying car doors and taking items from unlocked vehicles. We would urge people to ensure that their vehicles are kept secure at all times."

A similar incident was reported in Bamber Bridge on March 28.
