Walton-le-Dale BP robbery accused will face court hearing

A defendant accused of a knifepoint shop robbery will appear in court on October 16.

Oscar William McCaughey, 20, of Manor Close, Hoghton, Preston, is accused of robbing stamps, beer and £395 cash from the BP garage in Victoria Road, Walton-le-Dale at around 5am on January 28.

It is alleged a robber entered the shop wearing a face mask and brandishing a knife, leading to a chase around the aisles.

It is understood the shopkeeper, Lingeswaran Rengasamy, managed to get outside the store and lock the robber inside.

Police were then called to the scene.

A case management hearing took place before Preston Crown Court.

The defendant was excused from attendance due to a medical appointment, and Judge Simon Medland QC adjourned the case.
