Teen stabbed in the back in 'nasty' Blackburn attack

Police were called to reports of an assault in Lawrence Street shortly after 5.40pm on Tuesday (April 20).

Officers attended and found the teenager had been stabbed in the back once in Wensley Road.

No arrests have been made "despite extensive enquiries" and detectives are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

DC Gemma Anderson, of Blackburn CID, said: "This was a nasty attack which could easily have resulted in the victim losing his life. Thankfully, his injuries were not serious.

"I know this incident will have caused the community some concern and would like to re-assure them that this is being treated as an isolated incident. Patrols have been stepped up in the area.

"As part of our enquiries, we are now appealing for anybody with information or footage which could assist the investigation to contact the police as soon as possible."
