Search continues for 'machete-wielding' Burnley man after pensioner and pregnant woman attacked

A "violent" man who allegedly attacked a pensioner and assaulted a pregnant woman is wanted by the police.

Officers in Burnley are continuing to appeal for information regarding the whereabouts of Reece Murgatroyd who they say is "known to carry weapons and can be violent."

The 21-year-old is wanted in connection with an attack on a woman in her 60s, an assault on a pregnant woman, threatening people with a machete and criminal damage to a car.

Murgatroyd is described as white, 5ft 8in tall, of slim build, with short, dark-brown hair.

He has links to the Padiham and Hapton areas, according to police.

For any immediate sightings of Murgatroyd, people are asked to call 999, and are advised not to approach him as he is known to be violent and carry weapons.

Anyone who has any information about his whereabouts has been urged to contact police by calling 101, quoting log number 2240 of August 8.
