Residents act over 'drugs den' Preston house

Fed-up residents have taken direct action against suspected drug dealers in their community.

Photographs have been posted on social media of a house in the Plungington area of Preston plastered with notices.

Some read: “Drugs sold here”, “Drug dealers live here”, “Police officers free entry”.

Plungington Labour Councillor Pav Akhtar tweeted to police : “These photos are examples of direct action being taken by residents to protest their fear of an out-of-control drug den dealer problem.

"Please act before people get hurt!”

Coun Akhtar said drug dealing and anti-social behaviour was a major issue in the area.

It had been raised with police many times.

He said : “I am concerned that if the police don’t act people will take things into their own hands.”

Chief Insp Patrick Worden from Preston Police said: “We are aware that some people who live in the Plungington area are experiencing issues with drugs, which we are committed to tackling.

“We need the community to assist us with this and I ask that residents continue to work with us by reporting incidents of drug dealing, meaning we can continue to build a picture of what is going on and who is involved, so we can take action.
