Lewis Mercer, 29, of Haydock Drive, Chorley, pleaded not guilty to the offence but failed to attend his trial at Preston Magistrates’ Court and was found guilty in his absence.

The bench was told on July 6 last year he committed a racially aggravated assault on victim Sabrina Warren, and a common assault on Michaela Cook.

He got 17 weeks in prison, suspended for a year, and must do 100 hours of unpaid work.

The court imposed a restraining order and ordered him to pay each victim £200 compensation.
