She said: "He confirmed he went to collect some cards from a friend and his behaviour was very nervous which aroused suspicion, and the officer noticed his pupils were heavily dilated."

He told officers he had been arrested for drug driving a while ago but didn't take drugs anymore but while waiting for drugs to be brought he became increasingly agitated.

A drugs wipe test and blood tests confirmed cannabis in his system.

His defence lawyer said he had achieved A stars and A grades in his exams and was studying Maths at university, but his studies were postponed due to mental health issues.

He had used cannabis to medicate his chronic pain syndrome and mental health conditions.

The bench imposed a 12 month ban and ordered him to pay a £120 fine, £34 surcharge and £85 costs after he admitted drug driving.
