Preston stabbing: Man charged with murder as 16-year-old victim named by police

A man has been charged with murder following the death of a 16-year-old boy who was stabbed multiple times in Preston.

Sarmad Al-Saidi, 16, died in hospital yesterday (December 27), four days after he was found with stab wounds to his chest and legs at an address in Chatham Place on Wednesday (December 23).

Three teenagers arrested on Christmas Eve were initially charged with attempted murder in relation to the stabbing.

Officers have now confirmed Jamie Dixon, 18, of Clayton Avenue, Leyland, has appeared before Preston Magistrates today and has been charged with Sarmad’s murder.

A Lancashire police spokesman said the other two defendants, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will also be charged with murder when they appear at court today.

A tweet from Preston Muslim Burial Society expressed condolences to the victim's family and stated he was from the Broadgate area of Preston.
