Preston sex attack suspect arrested after two alleged assaults in ten minutes

A 19-year-old man has been arrested after a teenager and a woman were allegedly assaulted within ten minutes of each other in Deepdale.

Police arrested the man on suspicion of sexual assault following public appeals for information, including the release of CCTV footage.

Between 10.10pm and 10.15pm on Tuesday November 27, a 16-year-old girl was walking on Meadow Street when she was approached by a man close to the Catherine Beckett Community Centre. The man is alleged to have sexually assaulted her before fleeing in the direction of Deepdale Road.

Just minutes later, police received a report that a 19-year-old woman had been approached and pushed to the ground on the car park of Home Bargains on Deepdale Road.

A struggle ensued between the woman and her assailant but she managed to escape and run to safety.

The man, who was arrested on Friday December 14, has been bailed pending further enquiries.
