Preston man sentenced to 16 weeks in prison following burglary at Fishergate retail premises

A Preston man has been sentenced to 16 weeks in prison and ordered to pay £115 in compensation following a burglary at a retail premises on Fishergate.

James Pool, 37, has been charged and sentenced to 16 weeks in prison following a burglary at a retail premises on Fishergate.

Police were called to reports an audible security alarm at a retail premises on Fishergate had been activated shortly after midnight on Wednesday, May 20.

Officers attended the scene and confirmed the premises had been broken into.

After conducting a search of the area Pool was located close to the scene and was subsequently arrested.

Pool, from Preston, was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison and ordered to pay £115 in compensation after attending court on the same day (May 20).

PC Gerard Jarosz of Preston Supported Development Unit (SDU) said: "I am satisfied with the sentence Pool has received and hope it sends a message to would-be offenders that crime doesn’t pay.

"In Preston we take this type of crime extremely seriously and those who burgle homes and businesses will be pursued and brought to justice."
