Preston grandad's 'gallery of shame' as maggots infest bins and flytipped waste

An angry resident has shared a gallery of images - including maggot infested bins - as rotting rubbish continues to blight his neighbourhood.

Preston Coun Robert Boswell, Cabinet member for environment and community safety, said: “Littering and fly-tipping is awful behaviour that causes blights on our streets and takes up a great amount of time and resource for the Council, which could be better spent elsewhere.

"We would ask all residents to dispose of their waste and recycling in a responsible manner using the bins provided, in order to keeps the streets free of litter and fly-tipping. There’s information on our website to help those residents who are unsure of what items go in which bin and we offer a bulky waste collection service for those needing to dispose of larger items.

"We would encourage people to report any fly-tipping incidents via our website immediately, giving the team all the details they can including specific locations, so they can be actioned appropriately as soon as we can. Recently several fixed penalty notices have been issued for fly-tipping so we can assure residents that these are investigated when reported to us.”
