Police release CCTV footage of suspect in Bamber Bridge armed robbery

A CCTV clip has been released by police investigating reports of a child being robbed at knife-point in Bamber Bridge.

The footage has been shared with the public as Lancashire Police investigate the mugging of a schoolboy near Station Road on September 7.

The boy was left terrified after a man in a balaclava threatened to stab him with a knife as he walked through an alley between Co-Operative St and Duke St on his way home from Brownedge St Mary’s Catholic High School at around 3.30pm.

The boy had been ordered to empty his pockets and hand over his phone and other valuables, but he managed to escape and make his way home safely.

Police say they are looking for a white man (pictured), aged in his late teens who had been wearing a waterproof jacket and black jogging bottoms.

The CCTV footage shows a young man riding a black bike on the corner of Station Road and Mounsey Road. He appears to have short hair and had been wearing a black coat, black pants and black shoes/trainers.

A police spokesman said: "We want to speak to the person in this short clip of CCTV about a robbery which occurred near to Station Road in Bamber Bridge at around 3.30pm on Monday, September 21, 2020.

"The victim, who is a school boy, was returning home from Brownedge St Mary’s Catholic High School when he was approached by a male in an alley between Cooperative St and Duke St wearing a balaclava and brandishing a knife.

"The offender demanded the boy to empty his pockets and hand over his valuables, but thankfully the boy was not injured and the offender left empty handed.

"We believe the person on the bike in the CCTV could have information which will help our enquiries.
