“Officers were bemused to say the least when two more men arrived on the scene.

“Their vehicle was, unfortunately, uninsured and was seized.”

The two men – a 43-year-old man from Newcastle and a 25-year-old man from Rochdale – were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs.

The 43-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of money laundering.

The spokesman added: “The moral of the story? Nothing good can come from running in hot weather.

“However, you will be pleased to hear Harv lived happily ever after [and] had plenty of tummy rubs for his efforts.”
