Both were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs after a car was brought to a tactical stop in Golden Hill Lane in the early hours.

The car crashed into a pole after being forced onto the pavement near a pelican crossing at the junction with School Lane at around 3.30am.

Tac Ops said they had spotted the car acting suspiciously earlier in the evening and officers had signalled for it to pull over. But the car had driven off and managed to evade police until it was again spotted overnight in Leyland.

The Tac Ops team pursued the car and successfully brought it to a stop near the traffic lights in Golden Hill Lane.

TacOps tweeted: "This vehicle evaded TacOps earlier today. Sighted tonight by #HO50 in Leyland.

"Tactics put in place, and with the assertive actions of #HO60 was successfully stopped.

"Both occupants arrested for a variety of offences including Possession with intent to supply Class A drugs."

Lancashire Police have been approached for more details.
