Pair charged with murder after death of Preston man Nigel Scott

Detectives investigating the death of a Preston man have charged two people with his murder.

Officers were called by the ambulance service at 10.05am on Sunday (December 27) after Nigel Andrew Scott was found unconscious on the pavement in Clarendon Road East in Blackburn.

The 58-year-old, from Preston, was taken to hospital with serious head injuries where he died on December 28.

Following enquiries and after consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, two people were charged last night with Mr Scott’s murder.

Daniel Butler, 32, of Walker Street, Preston and Marina Westlund, 26, of Clarendon Road East, Blackburn, are due to appear before Blackburn Magistrates’ Court this morning (Thursday, December 31).

Detectives are continuing to appeal for any witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the area to come forward.
