Overturned cars, mobile phones and drugs: What Lancashire's Road Police officers have been dealing with this week

It’s been another busy week for Lancashire’s Road Police team.

The illegal use of mobile phones behind the wheel has been a big problem this week, with officers issuing fines and penalty points to several motorists.

There has also been cars seized for no insurance, a drunk driver who flipped a car in a country lane, and a car carrying drugs boxed in on a hotel car park.

This Vauxhall Astra attracted the attention of patrols in Blackpool Road, Preston. It was followed to a hotel car park where it was boxed in. The driver failed a drug test for cannabis and was arrested. A quantity of ketamine, cannabis and cash was found inside the vehicle.

A police patrol had just left the station when two vehicles in as many minutes decided to drive past using their phones illegally at the wheel. Both vehicles were stopped and reported for the offence. Both drivers have received a £200 fine and six penalty points.
