One dog stabbed and slashed in throat and second badly beaten in 'sickening' Wyre attack

One dog has had numerous surgeries after being stabbed multiple times and a second was left unable to walk after being badly beaten in Hambleton.

Police are appealing for witnesses after two dogs suffered horrific injuries in what is believed to be a targeted attack at stables in Hambleton.

The attack, which occurred in Shard Road between 8pm on September 16 and 10am on September 17, left one dog with multiple stab wounds and another with leg and hip injuries.

Officers say nothing was stolen during the incident and the attackers got into the stables by removing a padlock.

No arrests have been made and enquiries into the attack are ongoing.

PC Stacey Billington, of Lancashire Police's West Division, said: "This is a brutal and sickening attack on two defenceless animals which will rightly leave the public appalled.

"We need to identify those responsible and we are asking anyone who witnessed people acting suspiciously in the area around the dates and times stated to come forward.

"We also want to hear from anybody with CCTV or dashcam footage covering the area."

The first dog, a Rottweiler named Rocky, was found with a seven-inch wound on his side and a four-inch cut along his throat.

He had also been stabbed in his chest and thigh, and had to have several teeth removed due to a broken jaw.

So far he has had two surgeries at the vets and he may require a third, according to police.

The second dog, a Rottweiler named Tia, was beaten so severely she was unable to walk on one of her front legs, and her hips couldn't support her weight.
