OAP starting seven year prison sentence for historic abuse of young girls

A pensioner has been jailed after being found guilty of a string of sexual assaults against children dating back more than 30 years.

George Gutcher, 75, of Manor Avenue, Burscough, Ormskirk, was convicted of 17 charges of indecent assault after a trial at Preston Crown Court.

The charges relate to three victims, all girls, and happened throughout the 1980s and 1990s.

Five offences relate to the first girl, who was aged seven or eight when his crimes began. The court heard she was assaulted in a swimming baths.

A further 11 relate to a second victim who was as young as eight.

The third girl was aged between four and six.

Judge Beverley Lunt imposed a seven year jail term, of which he is likely to serve half, and ordered Gutcher to sign the sex offender’s register for life.
