Nostalgia Cocktail Bar in Preston has been closed down by authorities using coronavirus restrictions

Lancashire County Council have closed the Nostalgia Cocktail Bar on Fylde Road in Preston under coronavirus restrictions.

A Preston City Council spokesperson said, "Following an application from our Environmental Health Team, Lancashire County Council has granted a Direction that requires Nostalgia Cocktail Bar (Fylde Road) to close."

Councillor Peter Moss, Deputy Leader and Cabinet member for planning and regulation, said, “It’s very disappointing that this action has had to be taken against Nostalgia Cocktail Bar.

"We take no pleasure in having to close a premises, but flagrant disregard for Covid safety measures will not be tolerated when we continue to have rising infection rates across the city.

“The investigation revealed that this was not a one-off or isolated incident but rather there was a persistent failure to manage the premises in a Covid secure manner.

"Previous visits by the Environmental Health and Police Licensing teams resulted in advice being given, which the management failed to heed.

"The Council recognises that the majority of the hospitality sector is doings its best to stick to the regulation and provide a safe visitor experience for customers.”
