
Emergency services were called to an address in Victory Close at around 11am today where a woman was found unresponsive with head injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
While formal identification has yet to take place, she is believed to be a 58-year-old woman from Nelson. Her next of kin have been informed.
A 72-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody.

“These are tragic circumstances and we are endeavouring to establish exactly what has happened.
“While we have made one arrest, we would encourage anyone with information or feels they can assist with our enquiries to come forward.”
