Morecambe drug dealer faces sentence over cannabis and heroin offences

A man is set to be sentenced in connection with drug offences dating back three years.

Steven Avison, 37, of Heysham Road, Heysham, Morecambe, and formerly of Hazlehurst Drive, Garstang, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of heroin and cannabis.

The offences took place between May and June 2017 in Morecambe and involved another man.

Another linked suspect was jailed for seven and a half years for drug offences, though proceedings were dropped against a third.

Preston Crown Court

At a previous hearing Judge Beverly Lunt warned prison was the “most likely outcome” for Avison.

She also asked for an explanation about what was branded an “absolutely hideous” delay in the case, which was in part attributed to forensic statements.

Avison will appear before Preston Crown Court on Wednesday.
