Month old egg sandwich lands trader in hot water
Satpal Jagota, 64, of London Road, Preston, appeared before Preston Magistrates’ Court after trading standards officials found two packets of chicken tikka bites, a snack cheeseburger, and three cheeseburgers were out of date at Falcon Stores last June.
He and his wife have ran the store for 28 years.
Prosecuting, Nick McNamara said: “In a refrigerator they found seven items of expired food. The worst of these was an egg mayonnaise sandwich 24 days in excess of its use by date.

In interview the dad of two claimed he left it to his supplier to check expiry dates, and said the figure on the sandwich looked like an 06 rather than 05.
He admitted four counts of contravening food hygiene laws and had five offences of possessing unclassified recordings for sale taken into consideration.
They relate to porn DVDS found behind the counter at the shop which he claimed had “fallen out of adult magazines”.
