Mobility scooter stolen from post office in Ashton

A woman launched a Facebook appeal after an 86-year-old man had his mobility scooter stolen in Ashton-on-Ribble.

The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, said she was "fuming" after she witnessed the incident outside the post office on Blackpool Road at around 4.30pm on May 16.

She said: "I have just slowly walked home an 86-year-old man as two boys have stolen his mobility scooter. I'm fuming as I witnessed the whole thing but just didn't react quickly enough.

"It was stolen from the post office/Ashton park area on Blackpool road, it is red and has a few personal belongings in it.

"This is the only mode of transport for him. It was last seen heading towards the lane ends area, please share and find out who they are and hopefully return his scooter."

The scooter has since been found.

Police confirmed that a theft of a mobility scooter from outside the Post Office was reported to them.
