Missing teenager arrested at Leyland railway station after 'passengers assaulted on train'

A missing teenager was arrested following reports of an assault on a train near Leyland.

Police were called to reports a number of passengers had been attacked on a train heading towards Leyland railway station on Saturday (July 23).

A17-year-old boy was subsequently arrested after the train arrived at the station shortly before midday.

He was later released under investigation while CCTV enquiries continued.

He was also taken back home to the Manchester area by officers as he had been reported missing, British Transport Police said.
