Man wanted after car parts worth £10,000 are stolen from dealership forecourts

A man is wanted after car parts worth £10,000 were stolen from vehicles at dealerships in Chorley, Wigan and Bolton.

Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with brazen thefts from cars for sale outside showrooms.

The thefts happened on at least 6 occasions over a 14-month period, between June 2019 and August 2020, with the thief stealing high-value parts worth around £10,000.

Police believe all of these incidents are linked, with forces in Lancashire and Greater Manchester working together to find the thief responsible.

A spokesman for GMP said: "We are investigating a series of car thefts from dealerships in Bolton and have released images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incidents.

"Though the incidents have mainly taken place in Bolton, they have also occurred in the Wigan and Chorley areas.

"Between June 2019 and August 2020 officers have been made aware of at least six incidents of a man breaking into several vehicles on various showroom forecourts.

"One each occasion the offender has stolen car parts of high-value and it is estimated that the total value of the times taken exceeds £10,000.

"All of these incidents are believed to be linked and investigators wish to identify the pictured man and speak to him about the thefts.

"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."
