Man suffers 'serious leg injuries' in 'hit and run' at Penwortham petrol station

A man in his 20s was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries after a car failed to stop at the scene of a collision in Penwortham.

A man in his 20s suffered serious leg injuries after being hit by a car at Middleforth Garage in Leyland Road at around 6.50pm yesterday (March 5).

It is believed an Audi had collided with the man before driving away from the scene.

The man was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries.

A police investigation is now underway and enquires on-going to find the driver of the vehicle involved.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "We were called around 6.50pm yesterday (Thursday, March 5) to a report of a collision at Middleforth Garage in Leyland Road, Penwortham.

"It was alleged a car, believed to be an Audi, had collided with a man before being driven from the scene.

"The man, in his 20s, suffered serious leg injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment."

It is not yet known if the incident was a targeted attack.

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance service said: "We were called to reports of a collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian on Leyland Road at 6.53pm on March 5.

"We sent a rapid response vehicle and ambulance to the scene and treated a male patient for injuries to his leg.

"The patient was taken to hospital."
