Man knifed in stomach

A 27-year-old man is in hospital with a knife wound to the stomach after a row in the street.

Police raced to Gamull Lane, Ribbleton, Preston at around 10.30 last night following reports of an altercation.

They found a man suffering from a single wound to the abdomen. He was taken by ambulance to the Royal Preston Hospital where he is still receiving treatment.

It is not believed his injuries are life-threatening.

A police spokesman said: “We were called last night to reports a man had been found with a knife wound to his stomach on Gamull Lane, Ribbleton.

“It is thought that he had been involved in an earlier altercation with another man on a grassed area near to Rothwell Crescent.

“A 36-year-old man from Preston was arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding and is currently in custody. Enquiries are on-going.”
