Man in his 80s hospitalised with 'serious injuries' after being hit by car in Accrington

An elderly pedestrian suffered head and pelvic injuries after he was hit by a car in Accrington yesterday (February 11).

The incident occurred after a Jaguar E-PACE collided with a pedestrian crossing at the junction of Eastgate and Burnley Road just before 9am.

The pedestrian, a man in his 80s, suffered head and pelvic injuries and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he remains in a "serious but stable condition".

No arrests have been reported and officers are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Investigating officer Sgt Lee Harris said: "We know that this area is a particularly busy main road and so we think there will have been people out and about or travelling in the area at the time.

"We need anyone who saw what happened or has any dash cam footage of the incident to come forward.

"If this was you, please make contact."
