Man detained after two women attacked with hammer suffer head injuries in 'nasty' Preston attack

A 32-year-old man was wanted in connection with an assault in which two women were attacked with a hammer at an address in Preston.

Police were called to reports two women had been attacked with a hammer on Ripon Street in Preston at around 9.10pm on Monday, June 1.

A small quantity of cash was also stolen during the assault.

Both women were treated by paramedics at the scene.

Anthony Morris, 32, who has links to Blackpool, was wanted by police in connection with the assault.

DC Mark Thornton, of Preston Police, said: "This was a nasty attack which left two women with head injuries and we would like to speak to Morris as part of our investigation."

Officers have now confirmed Morris, of Preston, was detained yesterday (June 2) following their appeal.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "Following our earlier appeal, we have now located a man wanted in relation to an assault in Preston.

"Anthony Morris, 32, was detained yesterday."
