Man and dog injured in suspected hit and run in Preston

A man and his dog have been injured in a suspected hit and run in Preston last night (Monday, October 26).

The young man, aged in his late teens/early 20s, was struck by a car outside the Chapelhouse Suzuki dealership in Plungington Road at around 10pm.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and a police cordon was put in place between Blackpool Road and Symonds Road until 4am.

The injured man was treated by paramedics before he was taken to Royal Preston Hospital by ambulance.

A local resident who witnessed the drama unfold in Plungington Road said the young man was conscious and managed to walk to the ambulance himself.

His current status is not known, but Lancashire Police and North West Ambulance Service have been approached for comment.

His injured dog remained in the road, covered in a jacket to keep it warm, whilst emergency services worked at the scene.
