'Machete-wielding' robber empties two tills after threatening shop worker at Leyland Tesco store

A "machete-wielding" robber apologised after threatening a shop worker with a machete at the Tesco Express store in Leyland.

A man "carrying a machete" entered the store in Leyland Lane before approaching a staff member behind the counter.

He then held the machete towards the worker and demanded they emptied two tills containing money into a carrier bag.

The offender then apologised for scaring the victim before making off from the scene, police said.

Officers were called to the scene at around 10.40pm on Sunday, February 14.

"This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim which left them very shaken and upset," Det Con Laura Thornley, of Chorley Police, said.

"We have released CCTV images of the suspect in the hope someone will recognise him.
