Lytham St Annes care home boss appears in court after death of residents

The manager of a Lancashire nursing home has made her first appearance at court following the deaths of two elderly residents.

Caroline Taylforth is being prosecuted by the rest home watchdog the Care Quality Commission after the deaths at the Rossendale Nursing Home which she runs in Woodlands Road, Ansdell, in 2019 and 2020.

Taylforth, a qualified nurse who lives in Hall Lane, Great Eccleston, appeared before District Judge Jane Goodwin at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court this morning (Wednesday, August 10).

She pleaded not guilty to two offences of failing to discharge a duty of care to the two residents where an alleged lack of care and service resulted in avoidable harm .

The judge adjourned proceedings until Wednesday, August 17 and granted Taylforth unconditional bail.
