Legal action taken against Chorley man who held house parties during lockdown

Progress Housing Group said they took urgent legal action on Tuesday against Chris Duddle, a tenant at Cheshire Court, Euxton.

A spokesman said: "This was in response to complaints by local residents about parties which had been held over the previous weekend and to which the police had been called.

"The parties, which as well as producing serious noise nuisance, also clearly breached the Government’s guidance on social distancing and caused serious anxiety to other residents who were responsibly following the guidance issued to help manage the current coronavirus pandemic.

"The Group obtained an injunction through the Courts, the terms of which prohibit Mr Duddle from causing any other nuisance or harassment and specifically prohibits him from entering into any other properties on Cheshire Court or inviting or allowing any people into his property for the duration of the lockdown period in relation to Covid-19. The Group hopes that this sends out a clear message that it will take action to support the Government’s approach to the current crisis."

Tammy Bradley, Deputy Executive Director at Progress Housing Group, added, “Progress Housing Group appreciates that this is a difficult time for everyone, but we expect that people will use common sense and follow the guidance put in place by the Government to help manage the current situation.

“However, where there is clear evidence, as in this case, that people are not adhering to the Government’s guidance around Covid-19, we will continue to take appropriate action working in partnership with the police, to ensure that residents living in our communities are kept safe during this time of unprecedented risk.”
