A 30-year-old Lancashire man charged with stabbing a teenage girl in the neck has appeared in court.

Lancashire Police officers were called at 3.06pm on Friday, June 12, to Wood Street, Brierfield, and found that a 17-year-old had been stabbed in the back of the neck.

She was taken to hospital for treatment.
Thankfully her injuries were not life-threatening and she has since been discharged from hospital and is recovering at home.
A 30-year-old man was arrested shortly afterwards on suspicion of attempted murder and taken into custody.
Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Junaid Nawaz, 30, of Livingstone Walk, Brierfield – who is British born of Pakistani heritage – has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a knife in a public place.
Appearing via video link at Preston Crown Court earlier today, Nawaz was not arraigned at the hearing while psychiatric assessments are undertaken.
A further case management hearing was set for September.
He has been remanded into custody until then.
