Lawyer was attacked

A MAN who attacked his former barrister in a consultation room is to be sentenced at Preston Crown Court on November 21,

Jamie Paul Edgar, 25, currently of HMP Preston, attacked the man in Preston on June 7 and admits causing him grievous bodily harm.

It is understood the lawyer suffered facial injuries during the incident.

Preston Magistrates Court committed the case to the higher court for sentence.

PRESTON: A woman who fled after a road accident has been fined.

Laura Blakey, 35, of Ainsdale Drive, Ashton-on-Ribble, admits failing to stop and driving without due care and attention after two garden walls were damaged on West Park Drive.

She must pay a £240 fine, £30 surcharge and £85 costs, Preston magistrates ruled.

LEYLAND: A man who told a PC he would burn a woman’s house down has been jailed for 12 weeks by magistrates.

Daniel Royle, 31, of no fixed abode, told a PC in Leyland he was going to torch the woman’s home.

The court heard he has similar offences on his record and that it was committed in drink.

PRESTON: Sheena Thomason, 42, of St Austins Road, Preston, was jailed for 12 weeks after admitting a string of four thefts involving knitwear, clothing and perfume. Preston magistrates ordered her to pay £115 compensation.

CHORLEY: A fraudster who presented a cheque for £1,243, intending to pocket the cash, has been given a six month conditional discharge.

Dan Habtegebriel, 30, of Robin Hood Road, Coventry, appeared before Chorley Magistrates’ Court where he admitted fraud.

The bench ordered him to pay a £15 surcharge and £85 costs.

PRESTON: A prolific thief who stole £35 of cheese from a supermarket and toiletries and food from a shop, has been jailed for eight weeks.

Stuart Alan Scarborough, 37, of no fixed abode, admitted the thefts to Preston magistrates.

The bench said he had a “disregard for people and their property”.

CHORLEY: Paul Colin Whittle, 42, of Northgate Drive, Chorley, was discharged conditionally for six months after admitting possessing cannabis.

He must pay a £20 surcharge and £85 costs.

Gerard Thompson, 32, of Church Street, Preston city centre, was found guilty of failing to give driver information and must pay a £660 fine, £66 surcharge and £85 costs

Pavan Singh, 25, of Arnhem Road, Callon, Preston, was banned for six months after admitting failing to give driver information and must pay a £120 fine, £20 surcharge and £85 costs.

Shehzad Iqbal, 33, of Hereford Grive, Buckshaw Village, Chorley, admits driving without wearing a seatbelt and must pay a £20 fine, £40 surcharge and £20 costs.

Gary Matheson, 34, of Howick Park Avenue, Penwortham, near Preston, admits failing to give driver information and must pay a £300 fine, £30 surcharge and £85 costs.

Kelly Henry, 28, of Grimeford Lane, Anderton, near Chorley, admits smashing a window and must pay £200 compensation and a £20 surcharge,

Ryan Nuttall, 25, of Station Road, Bamber Bridge, near Preston, was banned for 12 months after admitting drink driving and driving without insurance or licence, and with a faulty tyre and must pay a £240 fine and £30 surcharge.

Michael James Hargreaves, 26, of Farringdon Close, Preston, admits resisting a PC and must pay an £80 fine, £30 surcharge and £40 costs.

Joanne Billington, 34, of Ripon Street, Plungington, Preston, was discharged for six months after admitting stealing groceries from Asda.

Sally Ann Howe, 21, of Castle Terrace, Penrith, Cumbria, admits assaulting a PC and must pay a £180 fine, £50 compensation, a £30 surcharge and £85 costs.

Sarah O’Brien, 24, of Barnsfold, Fulwood, Preston, was banned from driving for 18 months and must do 40 hours unpaid work after admitting drink driving and must also pay an £85 surcharge and £85 costs.
