Jail for banned driver over crash

A motorist who committed a string of offences near a primary school has been jailed for 36 weeks.

Muhammed Amzad Ali, 26, of Hartington Road, Preston, admitted charges of driving while banned and uninsured, driving without due care and attention, failing to give a specimen and failing to stop after an accident.

The bench heard on March 20 he drove a Volkswagen Golf on South Meadow Lane, while disqualified and crashed, damaging street furniture and railings.

The bench said it was a “serious combination of offences committed near a primary school”.

Ali was disqualified for holding or obtaining a driving licence for four years, four months and three days, and must pay a £115 surcharge

The bench heard he had a previous suspended jail term for driving while disqualified.

Spurned man, 32, admits stalking

A man has admitted stalking a woman.

Philip John Luisi, of Cemetery Road, Ribbleton, Preston, bombarded his victim with unwanted texts, e-mails and made unwanted visits to her home address, a court was told.

Preston Magistrates’ Court heard the 32-year-old carried out the offences between January 22 and February 6 this year following their relationship breakdown.

He was given a eight week jail term suspended for 12 months by the bench, with a rehabilitation activity requirement.

The bench said the offence was serious due to his previous convictions, and the domestic violence context of the offence.

Luisi was also ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs.

Harry Hough, 41, of Gloucester Road, Chorley, was bound over in the sum of £150 for 12 months after he admitted breaching the peace.

Mark Anthony Harford, 39, of Sharoe Green Lane, Fulwood, Preston, admits assaulting a woman and must pay a £100 fine, £85 surcharge and £85 costs.

Darren Lambourne, 44, of Birkdale Drive, Ashton-on-Ribble, Preston, was given a curfew and restraining order after admitting assaulting a woman and must pay a £85 surcharge and £300 costs.

Aguieska Paryiagta, 34, of Ribbleton Avenue, Preston, was found guilty of failing to have a valid rail ticket and must pay a £220 fine, £4.40 compensation, £30 surcharge and £150 costs.

Craig Steele, 35, of Alice Avenue, Leyland, was found guilty of failing to give driver information and must pay a £660 fine and £85 costs.

Daniel Whitlock, 20, of Aspendale Close, Longton, was banned for 23 months after admitting drink driving and must pay a £200 fine, £30 surcharge and £85 costs.

Callum Dimmock, 29, of Hindley Close, Fulwood, Preston, was jailed for six weeks after admitting failing to comply with his sexual offender notification requirements by not giving his address and failing to complete his annual registration.

Patrick Gavin, 27, of Leighton Street, Preston, was given eight weeks suspended for 12 months and 80 hours unpaid work after admitting two counts of driving whilst disqualified and uninsured, and stealing £232 goods from Booths.

Stephen Andrew Mathieson, 60, of Trawden Crescent, Ribbleton, Preston, was banned for 14 months after admitting drink driving and must pay a £300 fine, £30 surcharge and £85 costs.
