Here is this week's round-up of cases at Preston's courts.

Prostitute customer fined by the courts

A man who was caught recruiting a sex worker on a Preston main road has appeared in court.

Mohammed Imran, of London Road, Preston, had denied a charge of soliciting another person for the purpose of obtaining their sexual services.

The 31-year-old was arrested after being caught approaching a sex worker who was frequenting the New Hall Lane area of the city on January 4.

Following a trial before Preston Magistrates’ Court he was found guilty of the allegation.

He was ordered to pay a £60 fine, £50 compensation to his victim, and a £30 victim surcharge.

The magistrates’ bench also ruled he must pay a contribution of £60 towards his prosecution costs.

In Britain the exchange of sexual services for money is legal, but related activities, including soliciting and kerb crawling are not.

Christmas Day city road ‘incident’

A man has been convicted of a string of driving offences following a traffic incident on a suburban road in Preston on Christmas Day.

Mark Anthony Cairnes, of Rowan Avenue, Ribbleton, Preston, admits driving without a licence or car insurance, failing to give a breath specimen to police officers and a further count of driving without due care and attention.

He appeared before Preston Magistrates’ Court, where a hearing was told how the 36-year-old motorist was found to only have an expired provisional licence at the time of the offences, which happened on Black Bull Lane, Fulwood.

The bench ordered him to pay a £100 fine.

He was also disqualified from driving for 29 months and must pay £150 compensation.

Wayne Marsden, 55, of Paderborn Court, Bolton, was discharged conditionally for a year after admitting damaging a door security chain and must pay £20 compensation, a £20 surcharge and £85 costs.Yasil Borisov, 24, of Northern Avenue, Much Hoole, near Preston, was found guilty of travelling without a valid railway ticket and must pay a £220 fine, £30 surcharge, £11.80 compensation and £150 costs.

Georgia Butcher, 19, of Lychgate, Preston, was found guilty of travelling without a valid railway ticket and must pay a £220 fine, £30 surcharge, £11.80 compensation and £150 costs.

Michael Smith, 24, of Foundry Lane, Widnes, Cheshire, admits fishing without a valid licence in the River Ribble at Elston and Alston, and must pay a £145 fine, £30 surcharge, £127 costs.

Samantha Beardsworth, 48, of Botany Brow, Chorley, was found guilty of failing to give driver information and must pay a £660 fine, £66 surcharge, and £85 costs.

Karen Clements, 44, of Eagle Walk, Heysham, near Lancaster, admits failing to give driver information and must pay a £120 fine, £30 surcharge, and £85 costs.

Andrew Hope, 29, of Oak Croft, Clayton-le-Woods, Chorley, was found guilty of failing to have insurance and must pay a £660 fine, £66 surcharge, and £85 costs.

Neil Douglas Robb, 37, of Roundthorn Road, Oldham, was discharged conditionally for a year after admitting fraud by presenting a false receipt to get a refund in Leyland, but must pay a £20 surcharge.

Holly Clarke, 28, of Stocks Road, Ashton-on-Ribble, Preston, was banned for a year after admitting drink driving and must pay a £120 fine and £30 surcharge.
