Court bans assault man from a pub

A man who assaulted two men last summer has been banned from a Chorley pub.

Jamie Anthony Smith, of Liptrott Road, Chorley, was told he must not enter the Baron’s Rest public house in Astley Village, after admitting two assaults following an incident in August.

The 28-year-old was discharged conditionally for two years by magistrates.

However, he was given two restraining orders preventing him contacting his victims for the next two years.

He must also pay a total of £150 compensation to them, along with a £20 victim surcharge and £100 prosecution costs, the bench at Preston Magistrates’ Court ruled.

Smith also pleaded guilty to resisting a PC and admitted that the offences pout him in breach of a conditional discharge for a previous assault he had committed.

Resident armed with a wrench

A tormented resident in a multi-occupancy house armed himself with a 12in socket wrench after nuisance visitors kept banging on his window, magistrates heard.

Jason McClay, 35, of Fylde Road, Ashton-on-Ribble, Preston, was given 40 hours of unpaid work after he admitted possessing an offensive weapon, namely the socket wrench, following the incident on February 14 this year.

The court heard all the witnesses had refused to give statements.

Defending, Sam McKenzie said McClay had himself been assaulted at the property.

He told the court he had armed himself to “protect himself”.

He must pay £85 prosecution costs and a victim surcharge, the bench ruled.

John Atkinson, 46, of Victoria Road, Walton-le-Dale, got an eight week jail term suspended for 12 months and a 30 month ban after admitting drink driving and must do 150 hours unpaid work and pay £85 costs.

Thomas Lee, 39, of Bleasdale Street East, Deepdale, Preston, was discharged for 12 months after admitting stealing a coffee machine but must pay compensation of £87.95 and a £20 surcharge.

Lee Wilkinson, 26, of St Gregory’s Place, Chorley, must do 150 hours unpaid work after being found guilty of causing a man actual bodily harm and must pay £1,850 compensation, an £85 victim surcharge and £300 costs.

Michael Anthony Ainscough, 31, of Alder Close, Leyland, was found guilty of failing to give driver information and must pay a £660 fine, £66 surcharge and £85 costs.

Asim Ali Aslam, 29, of Albert Road, Preston, was found guilty of failing to give driver information and must pay a £660 fine, £66 surcharge and £85 costs.

Lisa Eaves, 27, of Aughton Walk, Preston, was jailed for 40 weeks after admitting a string of shop theft offences and must pay a £140 surcharge.

Peter Ashworth, 32, of Oxford Street, Preston, admits damaging a woman’s window and assaulting a PC and must pay £400 compensation, a £80 fine, and a £30 surcharge.

David Paul Wright, 40, of Grange Place, Preston, admits assault, using threatening behaviour and resisting a PC and must do 80 hours unpaid work and pay an £85 surcharge and £85 costs.

Tyrone Everson, 42, of Drewton Avenue, Heysham, Lancaster, was discharged for a year after admitting resisting a PC but must pay £85 prosecution costs.
