Threat thief’s ban from three stores

A prolific shoplifter has been banned from entering three Preston stores for six months after a court heard about his latest theft spate.

Christopher Murphy, of Fishergate Hill, Preston city centre, was given a total of 20 weeks in prison, suspended for a year, after pleading guilty to stealing a green DKNY jacket, to the value of £79.99.

He also admits using threatening behaviour towards a man with intent to cause him fear of violence.

The 32-year-old is now excluded from Poundland and TK Maxx in the Fishergate Centre, and the Miller Arcade off Lancaster Road, for six months.

The bench at Preston Magistrates’ Court ordered him to pay a £115 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs.

He was also given a rehabilitation activity and must pay £50 compensation to the man he threatened.

Motorist attacked two police officers

A motorist who was found in possession of cocaine after a road accident went on to assault two police officers, a court heard

Dean Mark Talbot, 35, of Studholme Avenue, Penwortham, Preston, appeared before Preston Magistrates’ Court where he admitted failing to give a specimen, possessing a class A drug, failing to give his details at an accident scene, driving without due care and attention, damaging a police car and assaulting two PCs.

He was committed to prison for 18 weeks suspended for 18 months and must do unpaid work for 240 hours

He was also Disqualified for 30 months by the bench and ordered to pay compensation to the officers involved.

The incident happened in Preston on December 18.

Christopher Bond, 38, of Thornton Road, Morecambe, was banned for 12 months after admitting drug driving and must pay a £250 fine, £30 surcharge and £85 costs.

Angela Marjorie Booth, 38, of Samuel Street, Callon, Preston, admits two shopliftings and must pay a £40 fine, £30 surcharge and £85 costs.

Liam Noblett, 21, of Park Road, Adlington, Chorley, was banned for 18 months after admitting drug driving and obstructing a PC and must pay a £350 fine, £80 compensation, £35 surcharge and £85 costs.

Dean Norman Lowe, 27, of Grafton Street, Preston, must do 40 hours unpaid work after admitting assaulting a woman and must pay a £85 surcharge and £85 costs.

Nathan Harry Watson, 30, of Thirlmere Road, Preston, must pay £8.70 compensation after admitting travelling without a valid rail ticket.

Marius Lache, 35, of no fixed abode, was jailed for 12 weeks after admitting a string of four high value booze thefts from Booths supermarkets and must pay £935 compensation.

Jordan Lee Greenwood, 19, of Charnley Close, Penwortham, was banned for 12 months after admitting drink driving and must pay a £120 fine, £30 surcharge and £85 costs.Patrick

Kiely, 29, of Melba Road, Ribbleton, Preston, was banned for 23 months and given a rehabilitation requirement after admitting drug driving and must pay a £85 surcharge and £85 costs.

George Leo Jack Miller, 23, of Delaware Street, Preston, was given six weeks suspended for a year after admitting stealing goods from Sainsburys and must pay a £115 surcharge and £85 costs.

Cheryl Marie Haworth, 48, of Cowling Brow, Chorley, was banned for 20 months after admitting drink driving and must pay a £300 fine, £30 surcharge and £85 costs.
