Four travellers charged with brewery raid
Police have charged four people after travellers caused large scale damage at the Thwaites Brewery in Blackburn.
Three men and a 16-year-old boy have all been charged with burglary and criminal damage following the attack over the May Bank Holiday weekend.
Two others have been released pending further investigations.
All six were arrested in a pre-planned operation on Tuesday which saw officers carry out dawn raids in Bolton, Leigh and Wigan.
The four charged were: Thomas Ward, 43 who is charged with blackmail, burglary and criminal damage; Patrick Ward, 32, charged with burglary and criminal damage; John Ward, 33, charged with burglary, criminal damage and shoplifting. They are all of The Stables, Aspull Common, Leigh.
A 16 year old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with burglary and criminal damage.
All four are due to appear before magistrates in Blackburn on Thursday.
Two others, both 21 year old men arrested on suspicion of burglary, have been released under investigation.
