An uninsured Vauxhall was pulled over by police in Leyland yesterday evening (July 8).

The driver of the vehicle decided to provide officers with false details in an attempt to hide the fact they held no license or insurance.

But their lies quickly backfired after it was found the details they had provided were actually that of a wanted person.

After realising their mistake they promptly gave police their real details, ultimately leading to them being reported for driving offences and their vehicle being seized.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "Vehicle stopped in Leyland. Driver attempted to give false details until they realised the details they gave were for someone who was wanted!

"Real details revealed no licence or insurance. Vehicle seized and driver reported."
