Chorley man accused of arson attack at family home will face trial in 2021

A man will face a trial over an alleged arson attack in which a Chorley family were left trapped inside their burning home earlier this summer.

Sean Fisher, 25, from Devonport Way, Chorley, was arrested in connection with the investigation after a home in Vicarage Street, near Erskine Road park, caught fire at around 3.10am on June 24.

Three people were found trapped inside one of the upstairs rooms when firefighters arrived, as flames were tearing through the bottom floor of the building.

The family was rescued by firefighters who smashed through an upstairs window, before the casualties were passed into the care of paramedics.

Following a joint investigation by Lancashire Police and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, the cause of the fire was deemed to have been deliberate.

Fisher was arrested on Sunday, August 23 at a home in Chorley.

He appeared before Preston Crown Court by a video link from HMP Durham.

He has pleaded not guilty to committing arson being reckless as to whether life was endangered.

He now faces a trial on February 5, 2021, and a mention hearing on November 18.
