CCTV appeal after burglary
Officers want to speak to the people in the pictures in connection with a burglary at the Walmer Bridge Spar and post office.
In the early hours of Tuesday June 28, three masked men entered the shop on Liverpool Old Road and made attempts to steal cigarettes and tried to break into an ATM machine.
They managed to get away in a dark blue Audi RS6 estate car which was later recovered on the M6 northbound near Leyland, following a high-speed police pursuit after which a man was arrested.
Dominic Burke, 33, of Mintor Road, Liverpool was charged with burglary and driving offences. He appeared at court the following day and was remanded.
DS Jerry Sturgess of Preston CID said: “This was an organised and professional gang with possible links to Merseyside, who broke into the premises and escaped from the scene in a high performance vehicle driving at high speed and placing members of the public at risk.
“We are particularly keen to talk anyone who was near to the scene at the time of the incident who may have seen the suspects in the vicinity.”
